Yorkshire Food Finder’s Kitchen Socials with the Flat Cap Cook (Commercial Photographer)

Sue Nelson, the flat cap cook

On Saturday (the 23rd August 2014) I travelled from Manchester to Wheldrake, near York, to photograph an exciting new event for culinary connoisseurs: Yorkshire Food Finder’s Kitchen Social.

“We totally love them! You’ve completely and utterly captured the essence of what we’re trying to do. The pix are awesome – some I don’t like of me (naturally!) but there are some Aidan loves and I’m happy with! As for our friends, the kitchen, the food etc. you’ve done an amazing job – thank you so much…” – Sue Nelson (Yorkshire Food Finder)

Last year I photographed the Flat Cap Cook, the lovely Sue Nelson of Yorkshire Food Finder. This year she wanted to use my expertise in capturing the essence of her latest offering, the Kitchen Social. The idea is that people can enjoy informal cookery demonstrations in her (bloody massive and fantastic) kitchen. The event is themed to enjoy the most seasonal produce Yorkshire has to offer. It’s cosy, for no more than eight guests and includes demonstrations, booze and food with a massive meal to enjoy the fruits of your labour. So there’ is food, booze and you learn quite a bit too! What’s not to like?

I shot the event with a bit of careful placement of my lighting, dotted on top of cupboards and hidden in corners and pots, this, for the most part, allowed me to work around people in a discreet way but still benefit from a commercial photography and be able to capture unplanned moments around the kitchen.

If you think this looks fun and would like to enquire about the Kitchen Social (there are dates throughout 2014 and 2015 dates available soon) you can email Sue or Aidan at Yorkshire Food Finder on 01904 448439 or info@yorkshirefoodfinder.org

Or you can look on the website here: http://yorkshirefoodfinder.org/in-the-kitchen.php
