Working as a freelance photographer is always full of surprises. A couple weekends ago, I was sent by The Sun newspaper on a travel feature trip to Lanzarote.
Not knowing what to expect, I certainly didn’t expect what I got. A weekend of drag-queens and cabaret with a chap called Paul Carroll, who runs Music Hall Tavern in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote. Paul won a Jet2 competition to take 99 of his friends and family on a trip of a lifetime.
He’s a fantastic chap and even though I’ll admit I thought I wouldn’t enjoy a drag act, it was a bloody good fun. The comedy is very slapstick and Paul made everyone; friends, family, press and PR alike, feel very welcome.
It was a tiring weekend, with late nights and much festivities, but was thoroughly enjoyable. I’ll let the photos talk for themselves, it was nice to see them used in a double page spread on Sunday too.
