As well as for work, I also like to photograph things I’m interested in for myself. This is a small selection of images of one of those little projects.
One industry that has seen massive decline in recent years is traditional tailoring in West Yorkshire. Despite the provenance West Yorkshire fabrics being in high demand all around the world, tailors around West Yorkshire and the rest of the UK. One tailor who has recently hung up the tape measure after a lifetime in the industry is Mel Woodhead, from Farsley (near Leeds), West Yorkshire. I spent a little bit of time with him to photograph him in his workshop.

at the start of the new term our first project is tailoring therefore we are all looking at traditional tailoring though not available on the high street so we are relying on internet examples. it is sad that there isn’t a lot of this kind of tailoring.

Hi there, yes, it’s a great shame. Skilled traditional tailoring has been slowly disappearing for years in the UK and the West in general.
What’s your project & where are you based?
