Performance photographer – From pole dancing to stilt walking

To contact me for this sort of cool photography or videography, my number is +44 (0) 7901 617571 or my email is jp@jonathanpow.com

I’ve always had a penchant for the unusual in my photography. I think my clients mostly realise this and pick me when these jobs come up. I get all giddy when I know I’m doing something that people will go, “You get paid to do that!?”

Which is why I enjoy this area of photography so much. Performance photography.

Working for fellow creatives I often shoot performance photography and videography, from my base in Manchester to all around the UK and beyond.

Over the past few years I’ve photographed quite a few performers, I’ve photographed actors, and I’ve photographed dancers. Photographing playwrights and poets, I can do alliteration too.

I often do these jobs for fellow creatives looking to raise their profile in the performance arena. Be it for performance photographs for booking agents, or model portfolios to put under the noses talent scouts or headshots for actors agencies. I do it all.

The Prices

You get me for the shoot, plus all the planning, time spent editing, all with the same level of care and attention as I use in my commercial and editorial photography.

Pow’s Performance Photography Package with prices from £250 for two hours

Planning and discussion of shoot (what you want it to say about you)
Location selection (this is often one of the most important parts!)
Two hour location photo shoot
Photographic finishing (That’s post-production to my commercial clients)*
Online gallery
CD/DVD of hi-resolution finished photographs
6×4 prints of all finished images

Pow’s Performance Videography Package with prices from £650 for the full day

Planning and discussion of video shoot (what you want it to say about you and your art)
Location selection (this is often one of the most important parts!)
8 hour location filming

*Quantity of images will vary, which we will discuss beforehand. Sometimes performers are looking to get that one spectacular image, some of which can easily take the full two hours. Yet other times it’s about capturing various images of different performances. Or indeed different looks for headshots can take time too.

PLEASE NOTE – This starting price covers a lot of hidden professional costs. This includes preparation, often days spent selecting and editing. Not just my photographic skills on big day. When looking at any performance photographer, commercial photographer, or indeed PR photographer, there are a number of factors that go into the costs. Photography is an expensive business.

When employing a photographer, what you are paying for is time, equipment costs, maintenance, professional insurance, computer equipment for editing and sorting, plus you are often paying for years of professional experience. Not to mention, time spent at the computer beautifying the photography.

Without all these there wouldn’t be a photographer here at all. When entrusting someone with your, ultimately, professional image, take all these factors into account. Especially to avoid they don’t cock it up!
